Valley Heart & Vascular Institute - Heart Care for Women: Free Screening

Free Cardiac Screening Program

About the Cardiac Screening Program

Prevention is at the heart of staying healthy. This comprehensive and noninvasive evaluation by a board-certified nurse practitioner helps detect your potential risk for heart disease so you can take steps toward prevention. The free heart screening includes:

  • A health history
  • Blood pressure evaluation
  • Heart auscultation to determine heart rate, rhythm and presence of murmur
  • Lung auscultation
  • Pulse assessments including carotid and peripheral pulses
  • Limited neurological assessment
  • 10-year and lifetime ASCVD risk calculation

An individual action plan is developed with specific goals for lifestyle modifications and, if indicated, a referral to a cardiologist is made for treatment and follow-up.
