Jason Sperling, M.D., F.A.C.S., is board certified in both general and cardiothoracic surgery. He has an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital. His cardiac surgery training was completed at the University of Virginia, and cutting edge research in cardiac surgery was done at Harvard University's Children's Hospital in Boston. He has co-authored numerous research papers in well-known peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Proficient in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, Dr. Sperling has particular interest in aortic surgery (open and endovascular), and established the TABAV program at Valley to help minimize the incidence of aortic catastrophes in our community. Dr. Sperling is also the principal investigator of unique clinical research related to thoracic aneurysm aimed at predicting aneurysm behavior. He also has an active practice in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, aortic and mitral valve repair, Maze surgery to treat all forms of atrial fibrillation, and surgery for heart failure. He has pioneered a novel technique of minimally invasive cardiac surgery and is the principal investigator of a clinical trial utilizing this method at The Valley Hospital. He has championed the use of the 'David Procedure' at the Valley Hospital, and is amongst the most active with this specialty operation in the greater NYC area.
